Therapies

In Person and Online

I work with people both in my offices in Madrid or Hoyo de Manzanares and online.

I also work with people outside of Spain, internationally, and work to find a time that works for them across different time zones.

Child Therapy

Children need to experience a sense of safety and connection to be able to open up when they feel lost, angry or scared. They have a different rhythm and language. Play is their language of learning and connection.

It’s important to make therapy fun as well as effective. I use play therapy, art therapy, sandtray therapy, mindfulness, breath, and cognitive-behavioral strategies help children build resilience, self-esteem and establish the trust necessary for change to occur.

Common issues I’ve worked with include:

  • School difficulties
  • Behavioral issues
  • Depression/Anxiety
  • Social anxiety/ Poor social skills
  • Loneliness
  • Birth trauma/Adoption issues
  • Acculturation issues

Teens

Teens are on a journey of self-discovery, independence and individuation. They need to feel listened to, understood, accepted and supported in this process.

I teach them techniques to help them navigate overwhelming emotions and learn healthy limits, as well as discover their new identity.

We also work on positive and assertive communication to help them feel empowered when life feels out of control.

Common issues include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Sexual identity
  • Social anxiety/Bullying
  • School failure
  • Self-Identity/Self-Esteem
  • Family conflict

Family work is also an essential part in the therapy process with children and teens. Parents need to be supported and given strategies to help them when balance has been lost with their child or teen.

Individual Psychotherapy

I want you to walk away with tools to provide you resilience in the face of future challenges. I can help you find the path for your life that is right for you.

To achieve that, I use deep listening to help you find insight, and teach you techniques based on the latest neuropsychology. This helps you to learn to rewire and strengthen brain resilience in response to stress and trauma, with a focus on strengthening healthy connections.

Mindfulness, Gestalt, Art therapy and Somatic techniques, like Tapping and Breathwork, are used to help clients gain more understanding in their challenges and develop a sense of power and agency in their lives. You are the change you are waiting for. You hold the key to your future.

I use somatic body and mindfulness techniques based on the latest neurobiology findings to teach skills, alleviate symptoms and rewire and reinforce brain/body resilience.

Tapping, breath-work and mindfulness can be especially useful in alleviating symptoms, lowering cortisol levels, a marker of chronic stress, and rewiring and strengthening healthy brain connections. Sandtray therapy for both children and adults can also be very helpful as it can produce positive shifts in the brain.

Resilience is something that can be cultivated through behaviors, thoughts, and actions. I always ensure that you feel safe and relaxed and we go at a pace that feels safe to you as you learn to restore your equilibrium. You are in control of your destiny.

Family Therapy

Family therapy can be an important accompaniment to child or individual therapy in order to establish new and healthier dynamics. It is also useful on its own as a way to establish new patterns of interaction between family members.

Family dynamics are many times unconscious with implicit unspoken rules that have been learned from our family of origin and never explicitly questioned.

Insight and questioning help to break these patterns. In working with the family, communication and listening skills are infused with fun dynamics to help restore positive balance to the family.
